What you will learn

Topic: This CEU explores the six (6) pillars that must be considered when designing and selecting sustainable flooring. The course reviews flooring through the environmental and social lens of sustainability, and explains how the six pillars relate to the health and well-being of building occupants. Key attributes of sustainable flooring will be discussed, along with the intent and requirements of LEED v4, WELL v1, and Building Codes.

Amy Costello

Amy Costello, P.E., is the Sustainability Manager at Armstrong Flooring, a global floor design and manufacturing corporation based in Lancaster, Pa. Amy is responsible for developing and managing sustainability strategies and initiatives and chairs the Armstrong Flooring Global Sustainability Steering Committee, which provides governance and sets the business direction regarding material sustainability issues. Amy chairs the ASTM Sustainable Manufacturing Sub-Committee and serves on the WELL Material Advisory. Amy is a former member of the Board of Directors for both ASTM International and United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and she was appointed to serve on the US General Service Administration (GSA) Green Building Advisory Committee from 2014-2016. Amy received her master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a licensed Professional Engineer who holds both a LEED and WELL Accredited Professional certification. Amy is a 2018 recipient of the STEP Ahead Award from The Manufacturing Institute, recognizing excellence among women in manufacturing.
