Estimating for Residential Construction covers all the basics of estimating
residential construction starting from the ground up. This includes
disclaimers, walls, roofing systems, metal sheathing and reading and
understanding blueprints. Attendees are provided with a step-by-step
workbook to assist them through the course. The workbook is theirs to keep
for future reference.

Who Should Attend? It is recommended that estimators who frequently
produce estimates for houses should attend this course.

Objectives:
1. Acquire a good understanding of building practices.
2. Gain knowledge of products used in home construction.
3. Learn to produce accurate and professional estimates.

Course Outline
Introduction: Learn how to read a residential blueprint; learn the basics
sections of house construction.
Clarification of Terminology: The attendees will be taken through all
necessary terminology to complete the course.

-Calculating waste factors
-Reading & understanding blueprints
-Foundation, beams, floor systems, stairs, roof system
-Interior walls, interior components
-Qualifying your customers
-Estimating strategies, table & charts
-Practice exercises

All costs include all materials, lunch per day, and 2 coffee breaks.

Stan Burkholder

Stan Burkholder is a veteran of over 40 years in the floor estimating and sales of building materials field of work. Through his consulting work, site visits, attending industry events, and classroom surveys he keeps up with the current trends in relation to floor estimating and sales.
Stan brings to the classroom a willingness to learn, a belief in the storytelling style of training, and years of practically developed efficiency processes which he calls the “tools of the trade”. Stan’s purpose is to respect all and educate and empower those who want to become professionally successful in this industry.
